Let’s talk about mental health + art
How can they work together?
Here’s how combining the two can be more beneficial than you may have thought
-
Sometimes journaling or even chatting with a friend doesn’t allow you to fully express the way you feel. By painting, drawing, or doing something more abstract, it allows you to process your emotions in a way that you may not have been able to before.
-
Several studies have shown that using art as a form of therapy and recovery have significantly decreased stress levels. This is for several reasons, but one being that it allows the person to focus on one task in front of them, while also letting their emotions guide them through the exercise.
-
You get to have FUN! That’s the point of a hobby anyway, right? Even if you suck at it at first (trust me, we all do in the beginning), it’s still worth it. Why? Because you’re loving yourself by giving the self-care and ✨you time✨ that you deserve.
-
You could be a master at your craft or you could be a master at stick figures. That’s the beauty of it. No skill is required, and no expectations are put on you.
